ANA has recently been added as the seventh member of a select group of five star airlines joining Asiana, Cathay Pacific and Qatar Airways among others, according to Skytrax Airline Star Rating Review. While my flight with ANA took place a month before this event, I could testify that this airline is really worthy of joining this elite group.

We had access to the United Club which is a very nice and spacious lounge offering very good food, among others the best dumpling Mike has ever tasted!

My boarding card.

Priority boarding for first and business class passengers.

My seat 6k was a wiindow. Each seat has a 63 inch pitch and being 20 inches wide.

Very spacious legroom.

The seat control looks pretty attractive.

The amenity kit included a pair of slippers...

...as well as a comb, eyemask, ear plugs, face and hand cream, a toothbrush and toothpaste.

My seat doens't turn into a fully flat bed altho it reclines to about 170 degrees.

A glass of apple juice and some rice crackers. The champagne being served on board was a french Champagne Heidsieck & Co Monopole Blue Top Brut.

The whole meal was served on a tray. There was a choice between Japanese cuisine and international cuisine. The Japanese meal included Kuchidori, Kobachi, Shusai, Rice, Miso soupand Wagashi. Of course, I chose the international cuisine.

Sliced roasted lamb with orange segment, Marinated prawn with petit leaf salad, Smoked salmon with black pepper flavor

Main Course

Grilled fillet of pork with mixed herb crumbs and port wine sauce (462 kcal)

Mango and pomelo pudding, Green tea (hot) "Yamecha"

And lastly, Haagen Dazs ice cream.

The headphones and TV control.

The TV screen is quite small but with a short flight like this, one wouldn't need to have a very big screen.

Toilet and Lavatory

Pretty basic toilet...always kept clean.

Mouth refresh, face and body sheet, a toothbrush and a toothpaste were all available for personal use.

Arrival in Tokyo

We arrived at the airport around 7 in the evening. We decided to take the metro to the resort gateway station where the shuttle bus from Hilton would be transporting us to the hotel.

With excellent service and very good food, I really think ANA deserves to have the 5 star rating. From the menu card, I think that the idea of writing the amount of calories one would get from a certain meal is brilliant. Why can't all airlines do like this? To ANA, thanks and more power!
